LE MARCHAND DE MASQUES AU JARDIN DE LUXEMBOURG
By Henning Høholt
In the Luxemburg Parc in Paris there are several interesting sculptures.
One of them is “Le Marchand de Masque” in French, - The Mask Seller, by the French sculpturer Zacharie Astruc (1835-1907). It is a sculptur presenting a handsome young boy selling masks of famous French Artists:
Hugo, Gambetta, Corot, Dumas fils, Berlioz Carpeaux, Faure, Delacroix, Balzac and Barbey d’Aurevilly.
One thing is the look a like masques, very well formed, and otheк details are that the young guy even has very detailed sandales and there are even figures scetched at his pants.
