GØTEBORG: The Göteborg Opera production of Giacomo Puccini’s Turandot, which met with such great success in 2006, is back with 14 new performances. Czech director Vladimír Morávek develops this magnificent Chinese saga even further.

Several of the soloists from 2006 are returning, but we will also be able to see and hear new singers in the principal roles.

Autocratic Princess Turandot refuses to allow herself to be controlled by a man. Any suitors who approach her therefore have to solve three riddles. Death awaits anyone who gives the wrong answer

The riddles are very difficult and one by one the men fall victim. Then Prince Calaf turns up and, despite pleas from those close to him not to get involved, he takes up the challenge.

Turandot was Puccini’s last opera and it is one of the world’s most beloved. Together with the stage design, a cast of two hundred in dazzling costumes help to create a magnificent exotic dream
