The Grace Kelly exhibition:

on track for one million visitors!

MONACO:  Since creating The Grace Kelly Years, Princess of Monaco in the Principality in 2007, the Grimaldi Forum Monaco has been successfully touring its record-breaking exhibition conceived and produced as one of its headline summer exhibitions, with the invaluable assistance of the Prince’s Palace.

Better still, this exhibition lauded in 10 cities on four continents is in its own way keeping the legend of the Hollywood actress who became Princess of Monaco more alive than ever.

Presented alternately in a fashion version highlighting Grace Kelly‘s sense of style and a cinema version relating her brief career marked particularly by Alfred Hitchcock, this multi-faceted exhibition has nonetheless never played down the royal destiny of this woman who became an icon.

Wherever displayed, these souvenirs, memories, photos, dresses, jewellery and home movies have reburnished the lustre of a celebrity forever present in all our memories and spotlighted her role as an exemplary wife and mother whom an entire Principality took to its heart.

On 28 October the Grace Kelly exhibition opens in the United States for the first time.

A highly symbolic moment made even more so as the venue is the Michener Museum outside Philadelphia, the Kelly family’s home town where the Princess was born.

The Grace Kelly exhibition‘s story of course began in the heart of the Principality in summer 2007, when 135,000 visitors flocked to the Grimaldi Forum to admire the artistic tribute paid to the actress and Princess of hearts. This event still holds the record for the most visitors to a Grimaldi Forum exhibition.

But Princess Grace is an international icon, so why restrict this emotional and cultural tribute to the Principality alone, and for a limited time at that? HSH Prince Albert II made his wishes known and the idea of touring the exhibition was envisaged. As a result, the Grace Kelly exhibition has been enchanting the world for more than five years now.

The tour now continues in North America, at the James Michener Museum in Doylestown, not far from Philadelphia, from 28 October to 26 January 2014, after which the exhibition returns to Europe to show at the Netherlands’ Het Loo Palace from 3 June to 26 October 2014.
