The world famous Romanian pianist Radu Lupu played a wonderful Schubert recital at the beautiful concerthall Atheneum in Bucharest, Wednesday 4th. September.

The Atheneum was absolutely pached with audience, – if this has been in Norway the firebrigade would have been sending half of the audience out. Please look the photos

However. It became an amazing evening like a dream. Radu Lupu paralysed his audience with the two last of Franz Schuberts sonatas. Lupu plyes in his own way, a lot of rubato, but melodiouse rubato, and he knows the pieces so well, so he know exactly how to mark the importent details, so we dont loose any importent details, furthermore he is virtuose when needed, and he is surprising his audience permitting him self not to rush more than he really want him self, This kind of presentation shows this big piano star from his innside.

The audience were overwhelmed by his musically generosity, and he payed back the ovations with 35 minutes of encores – presenting 5 extra Schubert pieces
. Actually we discussed how old he is, and some one guessed around 80, but in fact he is only 68. He could show a much younger attitude on stage by cutting some of his hair and beard, that would be very nice, and he would  loose any of his stage appearance, as he is is moving light on stage.

I shall not go more specified and detailed in to any details in the recital. This recital is his personal, and beautiful presentation of these two last Sonatas by Franz Schubert, it was refreshing, it was a great success.
