PUCCINI FESTIVAL 2014 in Torre del Lago (Lucca, Italy).

LUCCA/ITALY: In 2014 we celebrate the 110th anniversary from the premiere of Madama Butterfly by Giacomo Puccini, one of the most beloved operas worldwide. The 60th Edition of Puccini’s Festival in Torre del Lago (Lucca, Italy), born on the shore of Massaciuccoli Lake so dear to Puccini and a few meters from his Villa, will open on next July 25th with this very popular opera.
As Madama Butterfly will alternate Micaela Carosi, Amarilli Nizza and Silvana Froli. The staging is by Renzo Giacchieri, one of the most traditional italian directors.
Then there will be La bohème, with Daniela Dessì as Mimì, Fabio Armiliato as Rodolfo and Alessandro Luongo as Marcello. The conductor is young italian Valerio Galli, stage-director Ettore Scola.
Il Trittico will be performed in its complete version, consisting in the three short operas Il Tabarro, Suor Angelica and Gianni Schicchi; among the singers will be Amarilli Nizza and Alberto Mastromarino.
Unlike the other operas which will take place in the Great Open Air Theatre, Il Trittico will be staged in Auditorium Caruso, part of the Theatre complex. Bruno Nicoli will be the conductor.
At last, Turandot, with Giovanna Casolla and Lise Lindstrom alternating in the main role
