VIENNA/AUSTRIA: At Wiener Staatsoper general director Dominique Meyer has devoted January mainly to operas by Mozart and Da Ponte, the socalled Da Ponte Operas: Figaros Wedding, Don Giovanni and Cosi van Tutte, a repertoire that mr. Meyer is familar with form his time as general manager of Theatre des Champs Elysées in Prais, with outstanding DPonte/Mozart productions.

In Vienna with mainroles sung by favourites in the lyric repertoire Simon Keenlyside (Count Almaviva), Rolando Villazón (Don Ottavio) and Barbara Frittoli (Fiordilig). Furthermore Adriana Lecouvreur by Francesco Cilea is on stage for the first time in Vienna, with Angela Gheorghiu as the Comédie francaise actress – title role. Jeffrey Tate leads two complete Ring cycles in May and Juneproduced by Sven-Eric Bechtolf, who also will oversee the artistic direction of the Salzburg Festival in 2015. In addition 3. The Wienna house pursues its busy seasnon of about 300 performance of 48 operas.
