CHORIN/GERMANY, 25.07.2015: The 52nd Choriner Summer Music Festival featured New York Polyphony in its manifold program for listeners of all tastes and ages. Taking place in a charming old monastery a 35-minute-train-ride from Berlin, Choriner Summer Music Festival is indeed a particular event
. The variety of carefully selected concerts coupled with rich historical heritage and pristine surroundings provide an all-sense-fulfilling experience.
The New Vocal World concert invited listeners to a showcase of New York Polyphony – the internationally acclaimed vocal chamber quartet with 3 GRAMMY® nominations, top chart positions in The New Yorker, Gramophone, BBC Music Magazine, Billboard and on iTunes.
Well suited, composed yet extraverted the quartet performed heart-warming compositions ranging from Perotinus – the pioneer of three and four-part polyphony of 13th century – to Gregory W. Brown – a modern American composer who wrote Missa Charles Darwin and Abschied vom Leser – the composition commissioned by NYP.
The first half of the concert was rather entertaining, whereas the second part of the concert saw a significant improvement in the continuity and articulation of the vocalists
. Most probably due to the quieted wind or/and perhaps the special dedication to Franz Schubert´s four songs (Grab und Mond D893, op. 17), NYP´s perfect German pronounciation along with their splendiferous prowess seemed to have magnetized the audience. Profound and moving Richard Rodney Bennetts A colloquy with God concluded the concert, leaving everyone wide-smiling, whistling and cheering

Had the organizers managed to enclose the echo within the monastery space this musical journey could have been even more enchanting.
