New Musical Generation – Lithuania.

Upon looking back to the busy years who have passed, one of the big festivals coming in to my mind – was all back in 2010, when the New Musical Generation presented its Festival in Vilnius.

In 2010 *New Musical Generation* was presenting its first summer festival and academy, July 7-17, in Vilnius, Lithuania. Each evening, some of the most talented young musicians from all over the world were performing solo or chamber music concerts and, during the day, they were teaching festival academy students at master classes and individual lessons.

Students also had an opportunity to attend all concerts without a fee. This festival was an ideal environment for young professionals to connect with and learn from established professionals and preeminent musicians, who can be influential in their career path. If this will manage to continue for the future years.

* New Musical Generation* constantly searches for young and talented musicians and later promotes them on an international scale

. Therefore, if it discovers outstanding students at the festival academy, there is a strong possibility that it will include them in future concert series.

Their performers and teachers were: the winner of the International Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow (2007), sensational pianist *Miroslav Kultyshev*; the winner of 2nd price at the world famous Chopin Piano competition in Warsaw (2010) – pianist *Ingolf Wunder; pianists Alexei Grynyuk, Igor Lovchinsky, Kasparas Uinskas, violinist and artistic director of the world famous *B
. Britten International Music Competition, Dima Tkachenko*; violinist and assistant of prof. *Z. Bron, Alexander Gilman*; violinist and assistant of prof. *P. Amoyal, Andrey Baranov*; phenomenal guitarist from Holland, *Wim den Herder*, and bayan virtuoso from Ukraine Alexander Hrustevich.

*Editorial comment by Henning Høholt:*

Unfortunately, as in many other countries in the same region, the supports from departments is difficult to gain, and this don’t come by only free-willing. Happily sponsors, embassies and others are positive and are really supporting. Still it is important to hope that it will be possible
to continue this festival idea for many years, to give the best musicians from the new generations possibility to develop and continue their great work to the best for the community, the national and international audience and musicians, and to bring many visitors to Vilnius for this kind of wonderful positive summer activities, that is needed for the being an attractive city to visit for the tourists, and giving possibilities to meet the residents of the place. Furthermore to build a bridge between well established world famous artists, which bring their outstanding competence to the younger generations, who shall continue to bring the heritage out to the audience.
This kind of festival is bringing a positive atmosphere of happiness, musicality and being together to all the city, and inspires the people.

Furthermore it is, to my opinion, also important that Lithuania and all the Baltic region is making this kind of festivals, bringing the Baltic countries away from the former Soviet time, and from the mafia pressure, which followed after the freedom from Soviet of the Baltic countries.

Please enjoy one of my personal favorites: *Kasparas Uinskas*, the artistic director of the New Musical Generation Festival performing *Peter
Tchaikovsky’s Piano concerto no. 1 3rd part *with the *Lithuanian National Symphony Orchestra*, conductor *J. Domarkas*, Vilnius, 2009.:
