Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, 77th Edition.

The 77th Edition of Maggio Musicale Fiorentino

New operahouse, Firenze

FIRENZE/ITALY: The festival program was officially presented to the press marking what is maybe “a world record”: The presentation was only twenty days before the Festival Opening, that was april 30th with Wagner’s Tristan und Isolde conducted by Zubin Mehta, what can be looked as the compensation for the fact that in Wagner’s year 2013 (two hundred years from the composer’s birth) the House staged only one among his operas.

Presented by Fabio Bardelli

Other interesting opera performances will be Roberto Devereux by Gaetano Donizetti with Mariella Devia and Celso Albelo (unfortunately in concert form), L’amour des trois oranges by Serghei Prokofiev conducted by Juraj Valčuha and Orfeo and Euridice by Christoph Willibald Gluck under  Federico Maria Sardelli’s baton.

Daniele Gatti will conduct Orchestre Maggoo Musicale Florence during the 77th edition of the festival.

Guest orchestras will be Berliner Philharmoniker conducted by Gustavo Dudamel, Orchestre Philharmonique de Monte Carlo (with violinist Vadim Repin) and St

. Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Jury Temirkanov.

Orchestra del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino will be conducted by Zubin Mehta (a concert with soprano Anja Harteros), Juraj Valčuha and Daniele Gatti.

Festival Opening, was april 30th with Wagner’s Tristan und Isolde conducted by Zubin Mehta, Review will follow at Kulturkompasset

There will be also recitals of pianist Krystian Zimerman, violinist Uto Ughi and bass Vitalij Kowaljow .

A part of the events will take place in old Teatro Comunale, others in the new theatre (that will take the official name of “Opera di Firenze”), whose inner structure is not yet completed so that it will host only concerts and not operas, and that will be opened with a lyric-ballett gala under Zubin Mehta.
