BAMBERG: Winner of the 4th International Gustav Mahler Conducting Competition is Lahav Shani, (born 1989) Israel. Who is winning the first prize of the Gustav Mahler Conductor competizion and 20.000 Euro.

Two second prizes for 

David Danzmayr, Austria. 

Tung-Chieh Chuang, Taiwan, who each were winning 10.000 Euro.

 

In the final all the three finalsts were presenting their ideas of how Gustav Mahler Symphony nr
. 1. 1. satz should sound. 

At the Prize winner concert 14. June Lahav Shani shall again conduct Gustav Mahler: Symphony nr. 1. 1. satz. Furthermore 2 satz from Symphony nr. 6. And then finally “Ich bin der Welt abhanden gekommen” with Andrew Schroeder, baryton as soloist.

Marina Mahle (grand daughter of Gustav Mahler) (Honorary Jury Member and Patronesse of the Competition),

Jonathan Nott (Principal Conductor of the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra and President of the Jury),

the conductor John Carewe, 

Louwrens Langevoort (Director of the Cologne Philharmonie, Head of ACHT BRÜCKEN Musik für Köln and Managing Director of KölnMusik GmbH),

Jonathan Mills ,(Director of the Edinburgh International Festival and composer),

Albert Schmitt (Managing Director of Die Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen),

Markus Stenz (General Music Director of the City of Cologne and Gürzenich-Kapellmeister as well as Principal Guest Conductor of the Hallé Orchestra and Principal Conductor of the Netherlands Radio Philharmonic Orchestra),

the composer Rolf Wallin,

Wolfgang Fink (Managing Director of the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra – Bavarian State Philharmonic),

Christian Dibbern (member of the Orchestral Board of the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra).
