The famous pianist Nelson Freire did an extraordinary well job in his performing of the beautiful and demanding 2nd. Pianoconcerto by Johannes Brahms at Theatre des Champs Elysees, Saturday evening  January 15th 2011 together with a very well sounding Saint Petersburg Symphonic Orchestra brilliant conducted by Youri Temirkanov

In addition the orchestra also played the wonderful Symphony no 4 by Brahms. It became a very good concerto evening, and the orchestra evening served Richard Wagners Siegfried Idyle as encore
.

Theatre des Champs Elysees was completely packed with audience for the concert. The orchestra, as we have enjoyed several times in Paris, is among the very best in the world, and has a lot of wonderful soloists at several soloinstruments, as it was speially heard here on Saturday solocello in the piano concerto and solo flute in symphony.

The conductor Youri Temirkanov, who to me is “the quiet conductor type”, which not are making an extraordinary show by his presence, but he is letting his musicians play, and that is what they are on stage to do. A very symphatetic experience.

Nelson Freire knows what he is doing, and he has the big power, a fantastic well controled virtuosity, and opposite the pianissimo and enormeous light feeling in his fingers, which made this evenings Pianoconcerto a hightlight in the concert season.
