FIRENZE/ITALY: The opera in program are Il Campiello by Ermanno Wolf-Ferrari, Mascagni’s Cavalleria rusticana, Verdi’s Falstaff (conductor Zubin Mehta, main character Ambrogio Maestri), I Puritani by Bellini (with Jessica Pratt), Pollicino by Hans Werner Henze, Dido and Aeneas by Purcell, Verdi’s La Traviata (conductor Zubin Mehta).
There will be a special evening when only parts of two operas will be performed in concert form: Third Act of Donizetti’s Lucia di Lammermoor (with Jessica Pratt) and Two Acts from Verdi’s Ernani, main character Francesco Meli.
Among the conductors we can point out Roberto Abbado, Pietari Inkinen, Andrea Battistoni, Stefano Montanari, Lorenzo Fratini, Federico Maria Sardelli, Zubin Mehta, Leonidas Kavakos, Daniele Gatti, Daniel Oren, Nikolai Zneider.
Among soloist we find violinists Julian Rachlin and Pinkas Zukerman, pianists Aldo Ciccolini, Maurizio Baglini, Roberto Cominati, Enrico Pace, Giuseppe Albanese, Maria Joao Pires, Rudolf Buchbinder, Evgeni Kissin and Andres Schiff.
There will be also some ballets (choreography by Francesco Nappa, Angelin Preljocaj and Roland Petit), and various events.
