The two hundred years from 1700-1915 is presented at a very good new exhibition at Musees des Arts Decoratif at Louvre in Paris right now until April 14th 2013.

In the exposition world it is wellknown that Musee des Arts Decoratif, Paris are presenting some of the best expositions it is possible to make in the way of technical and well formed exposition, which is being enjoyed by the very large audience
. Right now two extraordinary expositions are presented, and the ques to enter are very long. These are the expositions with Van Cleff and Arpels outstanding jewelleries.  

The latest new Fashioning Fashion
. – Two hundred years presenting European Fashion between 1700-1915. A hundred male and female garments and outfits, complete with accessoires, provide a historic and thematic overview of the principal trends in European fashion from the dawn of the 18th century to the early 20th century. In parallel to this panorama of changing taste, the exhibition also reveals fashion technical and often hidden aspects, showing the dressmaking and tailoring techniques used, the quality and subtlety of their fabrics, embroideries and trimmings.

It is interesting that at the beginning of this mentioned periode the mechanisation, the sewing maschine was not found up, so it was all made by hand, this changes so in the second part of the exposition there is a change in the producing way. It was not an industri, in the same way as it is to day.

The aim of this dual approach is to provide a fuller understanding of how fashion and elegance were apprehended and created in Europe for over two centuries.

The Fashioning Fashion exhibition was first shown at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) from 2 October 2010 to 27 March 2011,  and at the Deutsch Historisches Museum in Berlin from 27 April to 29 July 2012. Following the acqusition of an exceptional collection of ancient costumes and accessoires
. It celebrates LACMA’s acquisition of the remarkable collections of Martin Kamer and Wolfgang Ruf, both antique dealers and collectors of ancient costumes and fabrics. Their collections reflect the principal trends in fashion in Europe from the 18^th century to the early 20^th century.

Presented chronologically and thematically, almost a hundred complete male and female outfits, mainly from France, England and Italy and all with their accessories, retrace the evolution of vestimentary taste, forms and techniques.

Les Arts Décoratifs:

The educational and cultural department organises museum tours for adults, groups and individu als, furthermore thematic workshops-tours and guided tours related to an exhibition for 4-18 years old.

Opening hours are Tuesday to Sunday 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. late opening on Thursdays until 9 p.m.

Free admission for EU residents under 26 years of age.
