OSLO/NORWAY: Monday afternoon, 26th January 2015,  Per Boye Hansen, operachief at the Norwegian National Opera informed that the world famouse opera stage director Calixto Bieito is appointed as the first guest stagedirector for the Norwegian National Opera where he will present one production every year and give masterclasses for young singers, work with our children chorus and with young directors.

As we know that Bieito has done some interesting production of many other great operas, than we so far has seen staged by him in Oslo

. For exemple lately a new Otello in Basel (plays until 15. April) with the outstanding Lithuanian tenor Kristian Benedikt in the titelrole, as mr
. Benedikt aso shall premiere att Stockholm Royal Opera 14. March. And returning to Otello in St. Petersburg 13th April.

We also hope that the rhumors about a new Tosca staged by Bieito in Oslo is correct. Oslo needs a new Tosca.  And it has the great childrens choir, who then can get an amusing job in the first act.

(From Wikipedia): Calixto Bieito (Miranda de Ebro, 2 November 1963) is a Spanish theater director known for his radical interpretations of classic operas.

Bieito continues to be in demand across Europe and to sell out opera houses
.

In January 2010, he was appointed as the new Guest Director of the International Arts Festival of Castilla y León for the next two years
