Berlin: Deutsche Oper – program spring 2014
BERLIN/GERMANY: At the Deutsche Oper, Berlin also a complete Nibelungens Ring by Richard Wagner, from January 8th is performed. Terje Stensvold sings Wotan in Die Walküre the 9. January. Staged by Götz Friedric and conducted by Donald Runnicles, who wil also conduct Benjamin Britten´s “gay” opera Billy Budd presenting John Chest in the titelrole. Premiere 22. May.
Les Troyens by Hector Berlioz is programmed with Roberto Alagna and Béatrice Uria-Monzonin as Dido and Aeneas, staged by David Pountney.
The season starts January 2nd with Mozart The Magic Flute. And is followed closely up with Carmen, La Gioconda, Fallstaff, Tosca in January. In February Jenufa, La Traviata and premiere of Faust by Hector Berlioz February 23. Regi and choreography Christian Spuck. Clémentine Margaine as Marguerite, Klaus FlorJune 16.ian Vogt as Faust, Samuel Youth as Méphistopheles. Also conducted by Donald Runnicles.
March: Two of Mozart´s Da Ponte operas: Figaros Wedding and Don Giovanni. Lucia di Lammermoour, Cavalleria Rusticana/Bajazzo. From 30. March another Hector Berlioz hit Die Trojaner. April: Parsifal, Rigoletto, and L´Elisir d´Amore by Donizetti are added to the large spring repertoire. May brings also Tristan and Isolde with Stephen Gould and Nina Stemme in the titelroles from May 14.
In June concertversions of Maria Stuart by Donizetti and Werther by Massenet the last with Vittorio Grigolo in the titelrole and Ekaterina Gubanov as Charlotte – Premiere 16. June.
